As many may know, I am expecting our second child in October. This was very exciting news for us, but it also had me feeling run down, nauseous, and not myself. All of this during the months where a lot of people already don't feel like themselves from being cooped up all winter and needing a breath of fresh air. But then April came! My second trimester and Spring- so I'm feeling pretty damn awesome right about now!

This pregnancy is proving to be so far, a little different from my first...

have to be careful when I sneeze!

When I hear stories of some ladies pregnancies, I have got it made in the shade that's for sure! But even so, I still have to take care of myself, so here is a list of things I try to do to keep healthy during my pregnancies.
1. Stay active: this was hard to do in the first trimester, but now that I feel up to it, I am walking, stretching, playing with my son, biking and doing yard work as nature requires haha. I have registered for prenatal exercise classes through July and August as well which I am so looking forward to, and once our pool is open lap swims whenever the weather allows! Swimming was my favourite thing when I was pregnant with Kit- takes the weight off of your joints while providing strength work and a good range of motion.

2. Eat smart: I try to eat small meals often as this helps me avoid heart burn and feeling over full. I eat a lot of nuts and fruit, plant based protein shakes, and let's be honest: whatever else I am craving haha. Seems to be a lot of sandwiches and chips and dip right now.

3. Self love: It can be difficult to find the time for this, but I have made a point of booking prenatal massages, and even a pedicure and make-up lesson just for fun! I am also trying to sneak in a relaxing bath here and there (using my scrubs I made haha).

4. Enjoy and by grateful! There are ups and downs in pregnancy, from nausea to pain and other things that may arise that can suck you in to a bit of self pity. So I try to remember that not everyone gets this opportunity, to experience growing life, to experience bringing life into this world. It is a true gift, one that I am grateful for every day. Our lives would not be the same without our son, and I can only imagine the joy this other little will bring to our lives as well.
