Well it is officially summer! So many fun things to try and so little time! Summer always flies by so to give myself a bit of a starting off point here is my summer bucket list to try and do with Kit before baby number 2 arrives....

1. nature scavenger hunt

2. swim lessons

3. activate sports camp

4. enjoying afternoons by the pool

5. parks parks and more parks

6. water balloon and water gun fights

7. fly a kite

8. beach day

9. backyard campout

10. roast marshmallows

11. paint rocks

12. zoo

13. make lemonade

14. berry picking

15. Fort Le Rein Museum

16.water gun art

17. practice riding a bike

18. Oak Hammock Marsh

19. picnic on the island

20. Narcisse Snake Dens (because Kit told me today that apparently his absolute favourite animal is a snake :P this was news to me haha)

Besides all of the super fun things, I will as always, have a huge list of things I hope to accomplish. So my biggest challenge for the summer: PRIORITIZE. I will prioritize the memories, and the couple of things that really need to be accomplished. Like moving Kit into his new room. Everything else that I put on my to-do list, I need to remember, really do not matter. My house will get dirty, and likely stay dirty all summer. The dishes will get done when I have a minute. The yard will still be fun to be in even if the weeds aren't picked and the grass is long. Laundry is a never ending battle- so doing it a few days later won't hurt anybody. As I think everyone does, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to uphold a perfect looking life. When in realty, no one else cares... or should care if you skip a week of laundry or dusting, or your grass grows a few inches longer before you get a chance to cut it, or your sink is full of dishes. What these things really show, is that I choose to spend the time making memories with my family, I choose to rest my body and my mind after my kid goes to sleep, and I choose to ignore the societal pressures on myself just long enough to enjoy myself. And when the summer is over, I will take some time to reset my house and really do my nesting before our little baby bird arrives... because lets me honest... I can't keep up this charade lol. Organization and planning is my jam!

So here's to sunshine and summertime here in Manitoba. May our days be long and filled with love, laughter and good company...and if we are lucky...no mosquitos!
