I have had an internal debate over the past few months while creating this website, on whether or not it even needed to be published, since it is in fact, more for myself than anyone else. The simple act of putting thoughts to paper, and creating things that make me smile is more the point of why I did this, but I also feel I need to open myself up to possibilities and people. And so, welcome to Taproots & Tallgrass!

The name "Taproots & Tallgrass" came from the idea of self-growth while staying grounded through my roots and family history. My hometown of Grosse Isle, MB is also home to a tall grass prairie interestingly enough! This website will take you through monthly themed projects, favourite items in my home, some fun stories behind items we've acquired over the years, and a monthly self-reflection which you will find here!

A little bit about me- I'm a small town girl...mother to a toddler, wife to a Doctor, homemaker, and part-time Massage Therapist. I have always had an artistic side, having been a dancer and figure skater growing up, taking part in art classes throughout high school and scrapbooking along with my Grandmas. I am finding now, as an adult I am constantly trying to spruce up the house, try new crafts with my son (the small number a 2 year old can do), learning to sew, spending more time taking photographs of both nature and people, and now with this website I hope to continue building on these skills.

I have always been viewed a certain way, but you will find I am a billion things rolled into one. An introvert by nature, but terrible at small talk so you tend to get the juicy details within 5 minutes of talking to me. A woman who never thought she would have kids, only a career, and turned out to love being a stay-at-home-mom. A girl with a "RBF" that would stop anyone in their tracks, but I can seriously be really nice haha!

Now bear with me as I navigate through this project of mine. Having not been much of a writer at all, these posts may be a bit rocky, jumbled and even confusing- but I hope to improve as I go along! So please follow along, for either fun, inspiration or simply to pass the time we all seem to have too much of ;)
